Exchange of Air Pollution Monitoring and Forecasting Solutions Using Machine Learning Technologies and Analytics

The first 12 air quality sensors will be installed in Minsk, Grodno, Brest, Vitebsk, Mogilev and Gomel as a step for further development in the region. The plan assumes that by the end of 2021, it will be possible to provide every citizen in Belarus with information about air quality.  

Thanks to Airly which provides air quality monitoring and forecasting solutions, authorities in Belarus will gain a powerful tool for tracking and identifying the sources of air pollution, and for gathering information for data-based decision making processes. Citizens will get access to real-time air quality data and will be able manage their outdoor activities, secure themselves against high air pollution concentration and take individual actions to prevent them. 

Although Belarus has good air quality in comparison to other Eastern European countries, mostly due to a gas-based energy sector, increasing traffic and worsening global air pollution may still affect the country. Therefore it is important to deliver an innovative solution that will allow constant monitoring of the situation in order to help prepare for possible threats and even take actions to prevent them.

A visit in Airly’s research laboratory

Air pollution is a global issue that is not only related to CO2 emission, but also involves other gases and particulate pollutants that are affecting human health, and according to the WHO, these pollutants are causing hundreds of thousands of premature deaths each year. Constant air quality monitoring, reliable data in understandable formats and precise forecasts will all help citizens to better understand the issue of air pollution which is an invisible and an imperceptible danger. Together with Belarusian company “VidaLink”, both partners will improve the quality of air data analytics in order to give customers better information on how the environment impacts their health, comfort, productivity and risk of getting diseases.

Thanks to small but very precise Airly, devices, it is possible to measure air quality in real-time and create maps of pollution and health risks over wide areas. By using machine learning technology, Airly also provides reliable forecasts, which as a whole is a very powerful tool in the fight against air pollution and its effects. It will also be possible to gather more scientific data about the relationship between air quality and droplet-borne diseases such as SARS, COV-2 and others.
